As we approach
our 10th anniversary, we wish to thank all our friends, colleagues,
clients, wellwishers and of course our families for the tremendous faith
and belief in us all the way, from when we started in good old Ruby
garage with just one computer, no assistants, no capital and only a
big heart!! Of these the only thing we have never ever lost is our heart!
WHY??
It was in 1997 that the three founder directors started with the belief
that an animation studio needed to be a place where we searched for
our artistic and national identity thru this amazing art form.The principles
of animation were long discovered, how we would explore them to tell
our stories is the main reason we got together without the slightest
backing or support and no infrastructure to speak of. Today, our greatest
sense of satisfaction stems from the fact that we never compromised
our principles in the most trying of situations. We worked the razors
edge balancing our desire to pour our souls out in our films while running
the studio doing commercial work which paid the bills with an equal
amount of passion and zeal.
HOW??
From graphics, animation and special effects in commercials, corporate
films, feature films, titles for film and television, visualisation
and preproduction design for both ads and features,to Illustration and
design, children's books, educational textbooks, the studio has expanded
its creative outreach to many different avenues often setting new standards
of excellence.We thank all our clients again for the opportunities they
provided us to learn, grow and serve better and to prepare us for meeting
the challenges of our true love... making our own films.
OUR TRUE LOVE!!
BANDAR BINDAAS BANDAR, India's first fully
cel animated music video, was just a start and - RAJU
& I, the first serious concrete step providing us a platform
for creating a story that touched hearts and fulfilled our pupose. Being
screened at over 40 international festivals and winning 14 awards including
a Unicef award and the National Award from our favourite President Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (whose writings, Ignited Minds inspired and fueled
the making of the film), also tremendously added to our self belief,
needless to say!!
CHAKACHAK provided an outlet for our concerns
regarding the state of the planet and environment.-
MAAA-aaa began its life in the studio's
early days and was an exploration of classical cel animation as practised
in animation's first golden age in the 1940s...a 'what if' project so
to speak. What would India make if we were active in the field of animation
and contemporary to the studios that produced Mickey, Bugs Bunny and
Tom & Jerry ? It would obviously have to stem from the roots of
folk theatre and early film comedy with all the principles of golden
age animation... a tough assignment to say the least!!
NOW?!!
Having experienced the highs of always creating what our hearts have
believed in, we now move into a new and exciting phase, and finally
embarking, sails and all, in the direction of making our first feature
animated project!! We have waited long and patiently experimented with
our narratives and techniques, slowly building over the years many projects
that light our fire!! We have finally greenlit one of them and will
soon share more of this new exciting stage of our lives! Watch this
space!!
