INTRODUCTION

Vinod has a keen sense of the visual and of a larger than life moment.. Many moments in the film are heightened thru the use of subtle effects.. Many were also necessitated by the very tight shooting schedule..
While we had working on the visual treatment of the film for a long time, we hadn’t really considered getting into the effects part of it… But in true Vinod Chopra style, he swooshed us whole into the project. Having storyboarded the sequences should have made it easier, but..

What was important to keep in mind is that this was not a ‘hero’ or ‘flying daggers’ film in terms of effects. The animation and effects needed to blend with the film and remain as invisible as possible at the same time complement and be consistent with the stylistic storytelling and cinematography of the rest of the film.
